If your dentures have broken in use, no matter how soft the food, then something has changed with your denture function.
As time passes, your gums will shrink and change shape, this usually takes a number of years to occur, however in some cases, can happen much faster. When this happens, your dentures no longer fit correctly, so when biting, incorrect pressures are exerted onto the dentures which can lead to cracks, or even complete fracture of the denture.
Simply repairing the denture may not correct the problem, a technical diagnosis is needed to determine the required treatment .Some times A new Denture may be necessary.
If your denture problem is left to persist your dentures may break again.
If your dentures are not thoroughly worn out then it may be possible to reline your dentures, in most cases this usually solves the problem, We recommend refitting every 3 to 5 years New Dentures are recommended every 8 to 10 years to support lost bone and tissue.A good guide is looking at the wear on the teeth surface .If they are worn flat it may be time for a new set of teeth.

Full and Partial Dentures
There are two types of dentures full dentures and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. A Partial denture not only fills in the spaces created by missing teeth, it helps prevent other teeth from moving and over erupting.
A Complete full denture may be either normal or an immediate denture, A normal type is made after teeth have been removed. These teeth may have been missing for years or may have been recently extracted. When a patient has teeth extracted the gum tissue must heal, usually taking 4 to 6 weeks, prior to beginning the process of making a conventional denture. During this time the patient will go without teeth. Immediate dentures are made in advance and are immediately placed after the teeth are removed, thus preventing the patient from having to be without teeth during the healing process. During the tissues healing process, adjustments will have to be done.
Dentures are very durable appliances and will last many years, but may have to be remade, repaired, or readjusted due to normal wear.
